The AcuGroup Team

Dry needling and acupuncture mastery, one patient at a time.

Our Story

"We've each been helping people get out of pain for over 25 years. We met in 2005 and quickly became friends, struck by how much we had in common. Not just our birth year, or our Brooklyn-to-California family stories, but our fanatical interest in treating pain with massage, dry needling and trigger point acupuncture, and an approach to care based in scientific evidence, with a practical focus on what actually helps. We opened a clinic in 2010 and have been working together ever since. AcuGroup, our Method and our team have all come from that."

Our Standard of Care

At AcuGroup, care starts with our commitment to getting you better—finding and treating the causes of your pain and dysfunction so you can move and perform at your best. Muscle pain is among the most common medical complaints, yet effective treatment is hard to find, as few clinicians have both hands-on skill and a command of the science of muscles, pain, and movement. We do, and we use them to get results.

Focused Care for Pain, Movement, and Muscle Function

Pursuing the best outcomes and experience for our patients is what led us to build our Method. Every clinician at AcuGroup trains in it, including our women’s health and functional medicine team, so you get the same care from anyone you see.

Bodywork with Needles

The craft we practice at AcuGroup integrates two extensive disciplines: acupuncture, with two millennia of technique behind it, and dry needling, with its century of Western medicine devoted to treating muscle pain with a needle. We’ve studied both for decades. Every clinician on our pain team holds a master’s or doctoral degree in acupuncture and dry needling certification through Myopain Seminars. To us, the needle is an extension of the fingers; what we do is bodywork with needles. Every visit is one-on-one and unhurried, the kind of attention this work requires.

Following the Science

What’s known about treating pain has changed a great deal the past twenty-five years. We’ve kept up, following the research in our field and updating our care, explanations, and recommendations along the way. An essential part of our work is helping you understand what’s driving your pain, what kind and amount of activities may be safe or therapeutic, and what else can help.

Jonah has also worked on the research side, including a randomized controlled trial on electroacupuncture and pain presented at the World Congress on Pain.
